So now what?

This blog started after the hoopla of wedding planning was over, and we were wondering what the next steps in life held for us. Now it's a new adventure for 3.

Soooo far Behind!

Wow - I've been seriously neglecting my blog (as Sam graciously pointed out, it's time for some new reading material!)

So where have I been hiding? Mostly just work and wedding planning. Nate & I had an appointment with the cake lday on Saturday - that was fun. I love my cake. And silly me, I didn't even get a picture of a picture from her cake book, so I can't show it off!

The Mom "situation" seems to be working itself out. We had words, she acknowledged funeral flowers were tacky, and we seem to be talking ok now. She initiated conversation by calling out of the blue to ask if we were going to come for Easter (WTF???). Typical. Anyways, I decided Raina's words of wisdom were the best... just don't tell her anything from now on, let it all be a "surprise". It's killing me, I want her to be excited with me, but it's better this way. Less problems.

I am seriously looking forward to our Stag - I CANNOT WAIT!!! It's going to be so much fun! Ticket sales are going ok, considering most people will just end up getting them at the door... but I am sooo nervous that just because some people have bought tickets, it doesn't mean they will come. What if no one shows up??? Silly, I know, but the thought scares me. (April 22 @ Sphere (8PM) for anyone who wants to come!!!)

Oh, wait, I almost forgot... I have stupid birds living in my vent from the stove exhaust. They were in there squaking the other day - confusing the heck outta my cats! Poor Tigger & Champ didn't know what to make of that! So we'll have to make sure they are all out before the super boards up their entranceway. Silly buggers.

Ok, that's all for now... I'm working on printing out wedding invites, so I'll at least have that off my plate!

Just rambling on...

Not much new and exciting to report.

No breaking news on the mom "situation". Saw her the other day in the mall and she walked right on past. Still pretty frustrated by all of this. My grandma also told her how hurt I was by her actions... yet she still snubbed me even after their conversation. Granted, I never took the first step to say Hello to her, but I'm not in the opinion that I need to be making the first move. I'm tired of always letting her take the easy way out, just to avoid conflict. Fun stuff.

On a happier note...
Got my flowers and centerpieces figured out, thanks to a night in Ottawa last week with Caroline. Sooo relieved that I finally have those sorted out... and it's so much easier to make my own than I ever would have thought. Got sooo many good deals! I had so much fun - we were just walking around in the beginning putting any old pretty flower in the cart - figured we'd figure out an arrangment later, lol! There was a cart full of reject flowers that we abandoned after all was said and done! Too funny.

And yesterday I spent the day shopping with Sam. Trying to find her some shoes for the wedding, and .... gym clothes!

I am so proud of us both... we both joined the gym! Different gyms, mind you... which kinda sucks... but I am actually really excited about this!!! I love my gym. I signed up at the Royal Brock - Nate's been going there for about 2 months now every day. Yup, pretty much everyday. So I said to myself... "Self, if he can go everyday, there is no good reason why you can't go a few times a week". So now I am a member of a gym. It's so quiet and friendly there. Everyone is so nice. Not snooty or arrogant, or gawking meat-heads, like when I tried at the Y a few years back. I think I'm finally ready to stick with it. Me and some girls at work have been working out 3 times a week at lunch in our boardroom... and I love that (who'd have ever thought it!)... I even look forward to it.

Okay, I'm off - DH is on, and I just spent 2 & 1/2 hours gabbing to Jaime on the phone... I'm all talked out now, lol!

Super frustrated...

Ok... I am venting... I am soooo frustrated with my mother in regards to my wedding. She really doesn't seem to understand/respect the fact that we don't want a small backyard wedding like she had just this past May (her 2nd marriage). I will not even get started on how I felt about her wedding, it's not really relevant other than to say I didn't really approve - but I went to support her, and didn't say a peep about anything. She had about 10 people at her wedding... did not even invite her 2 sisters... one of which who lives in town. Ok her choices. But she's been downplaying our wedding and after I'll tell her what kind of ideas I have (about any given thing)... she'll try to convince me to do something else... (ok that really doesn't sound so bad *if* they are practical suggestions, or in tune with my likes or dislikes... but here is an example. My colour scheme is lavendar. The bridesmaid dresses are lavendar, etc. She wanted me to change to pink, because her neighbor had pink flowers in her garden that we might be able to use. Not as an accent... but an actual attempt to get me to change my colour). This is the kind of "helpful" idea my mom frequently comes up with. Instead of working with me... she'd rather ignore me all-together and suggest something entirely different.

She hasn't really been all that supportive of the kinds of things we want to do. Her new husband is very C-H-E-A-P and it's really rubbed off on her. Not only is she difficult with me, but now I find out she's telling other people that she doesn't understand why we just don't have a simple wedding, and basically down-talking everything we have planned so far. Nice. We have scaled our wedding way back and cut a lot of corners because we can't afford an elaborate affair. But this is our celebration! We've waited a long time to get married... I think we should be able to do what we want, I would just expect everyone to be happy for us at this point!!!

So I called her tonight to ask her to please be supportive, and that I don't appreciate her talking down about our wedding to other people. They don't have to like the choices we make (they are not contributing in any way, so really they have no right to judge), but please act like you support us. Her response? She hung up on me. Not happy right now.
