So now what?

This blog started after the hoopla of wedding planning was over, and we were wondering what the next steps in life held for us. Now it's a new adventure for 3.

catching up

Christmas eve was a blast!
We had get-together at Nate's parents, same as every year, where friends and family all pop in.

Good eats, good times, good karaoke.
Well, some good karaoke. Some bad karaoke.
I was mostly bad karaoke. As usual.

The kids liked it though!

Christmas day was less eventful, a little more mellow, but still good.
I even went to see mom. Yup, you read those words right.
Christmas got to me. So I decided to pay a quick visit.
It went. That's about the only way to summarize. Only time can tell.
Didn't go badly, per say. But it didn't feel comfortable either.

And the shooting that I mentioned in a previous post?
I knew her. Her x-husband shot her. She was such a sincere, kind person...a maternity ward nurse at the hospital now. They have 2 little girls together. 9 & 5. Awful. Killed 2 days before Christmas. I worked with her at the factory a few years back. Last time I saw her at the bar she told me she had finally left her husband. Sheesh. That stuff goes on in the big cities all the time, but it's so strange when it's local. Someone you knew.

I am hoping that NYE makes me feel a bit more festive... we decided to have a party at our place, fairly last minute. Should be fun.

One more sleep...

So Santa comes tonight...

And like everyone else I've been talking too... I'm just not quite feeling it yet.
We're ready.
Presents are wrapped & in bags for their special destinations.
Xmas Eve Haystacks rady to go.
Just have to do up some laundry, whip up a cheesecake for Xmas Dessert, and we should be smooth sailing into tomorrow.
But brownish dingy grass outside doesn't make me happy.
Especially when nearly every xmas song mentions SNOW.

"Dear Santa, please be kind enough to bring just a teeny tiny smidge of snow with you tonight. Just enough to cover up the ground and make things look pretty and clean.
Thanks"

Last night did not add to my Christmas spirit. I got stopped at a police check, because they were searching vehicles for a suspect in a shooting that had just happened about 2 blocks up from me. "Miss are you alone in the car...?" Flashlight shined right in my face and all inside the car. This stuff doesn't happen in our little city. Sheesh.

So anyways - to anyone that still reads my humble little ramblings - Merry Christmas to you and your families...hope Santa brings each of you exactly what you want... I'll catch you again after Xmas.

Hang a wreath, they will come

Like 2 whole seconds after my last post, I went to take a picture of the worlds ugliest wreath... as shown below (thought you might appreciate how sad it really does look and maybe buy me a new one!!!)
Apples & pinecones & teeny tiny presents decorate this homely looking thing.
Exhibit A:

On my way to open the door so I can take a picture of this snazzy little "thing"... I notice someone has slipped something under the door.

Exhibit B:

Huh?
I'm guessing the little rug rats must actually like it?????
Seriously, it was up for no more than 5 minutes while I was blogging, until I went to go take a picture.
In that brief period of time it apparently got a passing grade from one of the poor blind neighbor children...and they took the time to slip a little note of appreciation under the door...that is just too freaking funny!!!!!!

Oh Christmas Treeeeee

Oh yes, we have the tree up finally.
Nathan is at work - and the Christmas tunes are blaring.
I will feel christmassy, dammit!!!

So I kinda cheated, and put it up without Nate...
but he's been working crazy hours lately, so I think he will appreciate not having to help out... I'm hoping.
Well, we've procrastinated this long, really I don't think we really cared if it got up this year or not.
It's been mostly dreary and rainy, and not so snowy out - I just finally conceeded that we must need decorations up to help us feel more in the spirit.

At any rate, the cats think it is great fun to chew on.
Right.
Forgot about this part of the fun - the part where the cats destroy my masterpieces.
Time to get the watergun out to shoot bad kitties!

Oh - I put a wreath up on the door to our apartment.
Normally, I am quite reluctant to do so... afraid "outside" things will get stolen... especially here in the ghetto... hehehehe.
But this wreath is butt ugly.
Kinda hoping the kids run off with it.
My feelings would not be hurt.
I'm not even sure where it came from.
So this is a test of sorts... to see how long our wreath will last on the door. Maybe it is so ugly nobody else wants it?
Maybe I'm stuck with it.
Anyways, it makes me chuckle.
I'm gonna laugh everytime I see that hideous thing on the door.

First bite of Christmas

This year I must admit, I haven't even started to feel the least bit Chrismas-sy.
Got most of my cards mailed, except for those I figure I'll see sometime soon. And we have gotten some shopping done. But we still don't have the tree up, and I'm starting to wonder if I even want to bother. I sound like such a scrooge.
I did buy something though...
I will admit, I'm a sentimental fool. Plus, I thought the snowflake was just to friggin' cute.
I decided we needed a tree ornament to commemorate our "first married Chrismtas".
Hubby asked how much it cost. I smiled sweetly and said the secret to our happy marriage is him not knowing how much things cost, lol. This is a line he had already used last weekend, when we were browsing for a new dining room set. Once we narrowed things down, he told me to drop him off at home first - saying the key to our happy marriage was him not knowing how much money I was spending. I did drop him off, but I went home without making a purchase. I saw some kitchen table & china cabinet sets I liked... I just don't know if I *loved* any of them. And for those prices... I really want to love it.
So that's about it for now really. Not very exciting!
Can't wait for holidays! Next week is my last work week! I have 5 days off in a row, go back for 1, then am off for 5 more. And then I start my new position when I get back!!!
Ok, that's really it for now...

Job news...

Just a little update.
Heard the news about the job today.
And
it's good news - I got it!
Soooo glad the waiting to find out is over!
I really just wanted to know either way...
but I won't lie... it's definately better when the decision is in your favour!
Start Jan 1st... new position for a new year!
:o)

No, I have not heard anything yet.
About the position I interviewed for...
and I hate waiting.
Just want to know.
Either way.

Thought I would post a visual of our foxy new xmas t-shirts.

So, here it is.
And here it is on Champ.

Such a good kitty. Lets us put all kinds of things on him, dress him up funny....just as long as we feed him.

Still no tree up. Maybe next weekend.

Bought a new winter coat... used restraint and did not buy it spontaneously... and when I saw it again it was $20 off.Score! I do love a bargain.

Office xmas party this Thursday... nothing fancy just some appetizers & drinks. Spending the night at Carolines. Should be fun!

That's about it for now... exciting, aren't I.

:oP
