So now what?

This blog started after the hoopla of wedding planning was over, and we were wondering what the next steps in life held for us. Now it's a new adventure for 3.

I am so lame!

Oh yes I am!

But I don't care. I'm getting ready to go over to Angie's (after a side trip to get some "Coke Zero) to watch the season finale of "The Bachelor". It's totally degrading and embarassing to watch all these girls throw themselves at a stranger that they are madly in love with and want to "reproduce" with... but it is a sick fascination I can't help. Mindless entertainment. I love it. I'm rooting for Moana ( I think the blonde school teacher is sooo fake, lol!)...

Catch ya later, I'm off to partake in some bad television and low-fat crappy popcorn!

Ciao!

Playing in the Bridal Shop again...

Yup,

We wound up down at the Bridal Shop again... the bridesmaid dresses are in, so I went down with Michelle & Angie so they could try 'em on and I could finally see what they look like in person. (They had a sample in, but in an ugly "shrimp" colour, so it was a little hard to visualize it in my colour...). I love spending time in there... I almost wish I hadn't found my dress so quickly, because I want to keep playing dress-up (and since I bought my dress there, I can't trick the sales lady into thinking I'm still browsing without feeling like a total moron!)

It was a pretty fun outing, and we ended up looking at a few flower shops - so I could get some ideas. I am still up in the air for centerpiece ideas. And I think I am going to attempt to make my own boutonniers & corsages out of silk flowers (that has a lot of potential to go really wrong!!!)... I really am having a hard time committing to anything. Centerpieces and flowers seem to be my biggest stress right now.

Today Sam and I were scouting the mall for some jewelry ideas, and I bought a necklace, but I won't tell you how long we spent in the store trying to make a decision on that purchase! I never thought I would be so wishy washy when it came to picking and sticking with ideas. I'm such a flake!

I'm flip-flopping about whether I want to spoil any surprises and post any pictures on here... I'm afraid I'll loose the "wow factor" if I post too many pics. So I guess I am making you all wait to see what I've picked, hehehe. I hope you know this is killing me though. I am not good at keeping secrets!!!

ciao for now.

What have I been doing???

Ok, most of you have heard me ranting about this crazy PS2 game by now... and I am not a big video game kinda person... I gotta give Sam the credit for finding this baby!

Really, I can't say enough about it. I love the stupid thing. Why is it stupid? Because it is exercise. That's right, I said the dirty E word. Normally makes me cringe...

PS2 Eye-Toy "Kinetics" game is just the kind of interaction I needed. I am too lazy to go to the gym by the time I get home from my commute. Plus I am cheap, and this is cheaper than a gym membership! $50 got me the game and camera all in one package. And even though I've started working out at lunches 3 times a week (mild exercise)... I still wasn't feeling active enough. And that wedding dress is still pretty snug - and July is coming awful quickly.

You *have* to check out this game. You have the option to pick and choose your own workout games, or follow a 12 week program (3 workouts a week). It's a mixture of cardio, combat, tai chi, yoga and regular old exercise (abs, upper/lower body).

It uses an "eye-toy" camera which actually sits on top of your TV and puts you and your living room on the TV screen. Now on the screen, there are balls you have to dodge (similar to dodgeball), targets to hit, things to punch or kick... depending on the activity you are doing. And these trainers coach you along and grade you at the end. And as you do better, the difficulty level increases, so you are constantly challenged. And if you really suck, a silhouette appears on the screen, so you can copy those movements. It's pretty funny. It gives you feedback along the way (sometimes annoying) and praises you when you do well (I do like praise!). It analyzes how you did based on reaction times, your age/height/weight, and your score comes from that. It keeps a record of all of this so you can see how you improve over time. It's pretty impressive for an exercise game.

I can't really do this thing justice in explaining it myself... go check out the website for this game yourself.

Just do it!

Feelin' the love...

Ok, I've been pretty stressed out for the past week or so. But I have to say one thing - I am a really lucky person. Because I know I have a really great bunch of friends looking out for me. Caroline - thanks for keeping me laughing this week. This weekend was pretty action packed. Friday night a bunch of us went cosmic bowling and had a silly old time. We even took Angie's little guy, which was hilarious because he is 5 and it was his first time bowling, and he still managed to kick the girls a$$es. And it was a breath of fresh air to get out Saturday with Jaime, Sam, Michelle and Angie. Silly me, I had my camera all charged up, but completely forgot to take pics. (Kicking self in butt...) Nothing wedding related really got accomplished with our get together, but we had a really great time. Thanks girls - I needed that! Dinner was fun, even though the service was awful! And the bar was good times too, even if I had to avoid the typical dirty old men - which I learned that even when I am not drinking, I still have no tolerance for!

It was nice spending some time with Jaime and her baby girl (I can't tell you how glad I was she didn't make strange with me when Jaime dumped her in my arms to go unload her van... That could have been sooo disastrous!)

So now I'm just chillin', waiting for Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy... Thinking some strawberry shortcake and chocolate whipped cream sound great right about now... Hey - next week is a whole new week for that silly little diet of mine...

History Lesson

Okay, this story is still pretty funny, so I guess I better blog it - and I even have pictures for this one too! I was over at my sister's (ok, she's my sister-in law, but we call each other sisters anyways...I never had one, and she likes me better than her real sisters)... ok so I'm over at her place and we're watching "Wild Weddings" or something like that. Mason (her little guy, 5) was pretty into it, and I had my wedding planner there, so I pulled it out and showed Mason a pic of me trying on my wedding dress.

He said I looked pretty (ok, so I did ask him - that's not really coaching is it???). Then he asked me where my witch was. Ya. My witch. Me and Ang look at each other, like what the heck is this kid talking about?!! So Ang asks him if he means fairy god mother??? "Nooooooo. No aunt Chrissy, where is your witch???? Your good witch." Hmmm. It took us a good 10 minutes to figure out what he was babbling about. And then it clicked. The week before I was over at their place, and joking around Angie called me a witch. Then she said, well wait a minute, you are aren't you!!!

Now let me step back a minute. Out in these parts there used to be a "witch" named Elizabeth Barnes. "Mother Barnes Road" past Athens is named after her. Her shack is a designated historical building. And she is my great, great, great, great, great grandmother. She was known as the "Witch of Plumhollow". Now she wasn't a witchy witch casting spells and stuff. She read tea leaves, and made predictions. She was so well known for her accuracy, that even famous people and the police would go and see her.

So when Angie called me a witch, Mason must have heard us talking about this. Apparently he thinks I hang out with my witch when I'm not at their place, lol! We had to explain that she's not around anymore, and she's just a story now...

Jaime's relatives actually live across from the old shack, so the last time I visited her out that way, I took some pictures...

I guess squaters were actually living there at one point (hense the tarp)... it's in pretty bad shape now. But it's a pretty cool part of our family history. I'm in the process of trying to scrap a memory album about her, but I'm having serious layout commitment issues...sigh...

There's my picture - oh so foxy!

Woohoo!

Got my foxy picture updated, got me some friends to stalk on the side there... so far so good! Now I'm gonna "experiment" with some pictures...since I don't really know what I'm doing, I'm gonna keep it fairly simple ... so here's a little introduction to ---> my wedding party, ta da! I'm a goof, I know, I already posted pics in my old blog... but, since it's MIA, and I don't have any newer pictures, I thought I'd just go with the flow!

Here are my bridesmaids Sam & Angie on the day we went to get them measured for their dresses. Well, let me tell you a bit about these chicas. Sam is my adventure buddy. She's one of my best buds from highschool (we bonded over our math teacher's extra-long nose hair. Doesn't that sound like true friendship to you? She is also my "Ottawa & surrounding area" adventure buddy. And my "let's watch an exercise video workout" buddy. And my commercial break "Desperate Housewives" Buddy. She's the one who gets the credit for this "Kinetics" game I've been ranting about to anyone who will listen!

Angie is my sister-in-law to be. We get along pretty great, and that is a very good thing because she literally lives right across the street from me. I've known her for about 6 years now, and we always have a blast when we are together. She is my "movie night in" buddy. And her little guy Mason (5), knows that Aunt Chrissy rocks! So much in fact, that he apparently thought I was going to marry him. I guess he forgot about Uncle Nate.

Lets see, next up is Michelle, my other bridesmaid - I knew her vaguely in high-school, our lockers were next to each others, and we both dated losers at the time. It wasn't until much later that we would actually get to know each other. We re-met thru our boyfriends... (Nate, Shemus & Randy were all pretty close)... and always got along (very important!!!!). Then when I moved back to Brockville, we all spent a lot more time together, and Michelle and I began hanging around outside of our little couples activities. And I take full credit for converting her into a "Desperate Housewives" buddy too. She is also my walking buddy.

Now this "far far away" buddy, is the trickiest to find good recent pictures of. Jaime and I go waaaaay back to highschool too. We were 16, and our lives were drenched in drama. Our ex's introduced us, and that was pretty much the only good thing those guys ever did, lol! We found each other, and were pretty much inseperable after that. She's my "let's wear skank clothes and go down to Riverfest" buddy (ok, so we don't do that anymore, but those days were fun). And she's also my maid of honour. This is her preggers with baby#2. I hate that she looks so cute. Please notice little ducky bib --> my very first cross-stitch attempt!!!

So there you have it... my wedding party. I am super excited... Jaime is coming down next weekend (not this one), and all of us girls are getting together for the first time to start brainstorming wedding crap (I am soooo overwhelmed!) I can't wait!

Ok, this bloggety blog isn't so bad. Even I can figure out how to post here... it's just getting all my crap up on the sides that's gonna take me some time. I think me likes!
